A Bible Study Program For You!
The Bible is a wonderful book!
I have spent the last 40 years reading it, studying it, loving it, and trying to live its teachings. I have engaged the study of the Bible in many different ways over my lifetime and am even now engaged in two specific programs to help me better understand the Bible and its application to modern life. Hence the purpose of this column.
For about 5 years, I lived in Knoxville, TN and attended the Temple Baptist church under the direction of pastor Clarence Sexton. It was there that I learned about a unique program of Bible study. It was called the Knoxville School of the Bible. I came to discover that this program, which was utilized there to teach the Bible to the church (and the general public at large) was reproducible.
The School of the Bible is a 2 year Bible training program that helps believers to expand their understanding of the Bible, and to be equipped for ministry in the local church. The school is designed for members and workers in local churches, including deacons, Sunday School teachers, youth and children’s workers, Bible study leaders, and many others who simply desire to deepen their Bible knowledge and increase their effectiveness in serving the Lord.
We have had a school of the Bible at the New Haven Baptist Church now for several years and have graduated several of our members from the program. Several unique things about this program are:
Low cost.
No tests.
Textbooks are not required but can be purchased if desired.
Graduation - If desired, once the program is completed, the student can go to Knoxville and receive their certificate of completion with the graduating class of The Crown College during their commencement exercises.
I want to suggest if you are interested in the studying the Bible with us here at New Haven, in this organized fashion, that you reach out to us and let us know of your desire. We will be starting class on September 7th…so you had better hurry! We meet on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm on the campus of the New Haven Baptist Church!
