Guiding Commitments in an Age of Combative Christianity
1. I will contend for the faith without craving conflict.
Jude 3 calls us to contend, not to constantly quarrel. My battle is for truth, not for platform or pride.
2. I will confront sin but never celebrate shame.
Correction is necessary, but mockery is not ministry. I will call people back to Christ, not push them further away.
3. I will warn boldly, but weep first.
Before I rebuke, I will pray. Before I warn publicly, I will mourn privately. Boldness without tears is often pride.
4. I will not confuse sarcasm with spiritual authority.
Harsh words may trend online, but they do not reflect the character of Christ. I will speak the truth in love—even when it’s unpopular.
5. I will shepherd people, not perform for them.
Ministry is not theater. I will not build my influence on outrage, hot takes, or controversy. I will lead with gentleness and conviction.
6. I will practice biblical restoration, not permanent rejection.
The goal of discipline is always redemption. I will never imply that a repentant believer is unwelcome at the cross or in the congregation.
7. I will never use fear to prove my faithfulness.
Saying “I’m not afraid of you” is not a badge of courage—it’s a red flag of ego. I will walk humbly, not loudly.
8. I will seek the fruit of the Spirit more than the fire of controversy.
Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness—these are not weaknesses. They are marks of a Spirit-filled man.
9. I will bear reproach without retaliating.
When misunderstood or misrepresented, I will answer with grace or remain silent, as the Lord leads. I will not repay mockery with mockery.
10. I will finish well, even if I never trend.
I am not called to be viral. I am called to be faithful. My legacy is not in my clips, but in my character and my care for the flock.
